The internationally renowned Jumbo Circus has arrived in Belagavi, with shows beginning today at the CPED Ground. The circus promises a mix of daring stunts, acrobatics, comedy and entertainment for audiences of all ages.
The performances include double-sari acrobatics, comic chair acrobatics, basketball acts, candle balancing, rope juggling and roller-skating, among other stunt shows.
Adding an international flavour to the circus are artists from Tanzania, Ethiopia, Manipur, Africa and other parts of India, who will showcase their unique skills and thrilling performances.
Jumbo Circus manager Titus Varghese said the circus has evolved significantly following the ban on animal acts, which were once a major attraction. The circus has since focused on bringing talented artists from different regions and countries to keep the art form popular.
The Jumbo Circus began its journey on October 2, 1977, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, at Danapur in Bihar under the leadership of M.V. Shankaran. Since then, it has staged thousands of shows across India and abroad.
Today, Shankaran’s sons Ajay Shankar and Ashok Shankar are carrying forward the legacy and continuing the circus tradition.
The Belagavi shows feature around 60 artists, including performers from Tanzania, Ethiopia, Manipur and other countries.
Show timings
The circus will have shows daily at 1 PM, 4 PM and 7 PM at the CPED Ground, Belagavi.
The organisers have invited families and circus enthusiasts to experience the world-class performances and thrilling acts.
