Hebbalkar announces waste processing units at Kakati, Belagundi and Basavan-Kuduchi

Belagavi Rural MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar has announced plans to establish municipal solid waste processing units at Kakati, Belagundi and Basavan-Kuduchi, as part of efforts to improve waste management in the constituency.

The proposed facilities will process segregated waste generated in the respective areas. Once operational, around 25% of the segregated waste is expected to be sent to the Belagavi City Corporation’s Turmuri waste processing depot.

At Belagundi, Hebbalkar said, dry waste is proposed to be utilised forย power generation.

The MLA highlighted the various development works taken up in the Belagavi Rural Assembly constituency over the past seven years, covering waste management, education, irrigation, religious institutions and infrastructure.

โ‚น150 crore for 156 temples and community halls

Hebbalkar said more than โ‚น150 crore has been secured for the development of over 156 temples and community halls across villages in the constituency during the past seven years.

Grants ranging from โ‚น10 lakh to โ‚น5 crore have been sanctioned for individual temples. The third and final instalment for 36 temples has now been released, she said.

253 classrooms constructed

The education sector has also received significant attention, with 253 classrooms constructed in government schools in the constituency.

New school buildings are being taken up at five locations, while four Karnataka Public Schools (KPS) have been sanctioned.

Residential schools under the Murara Desai scheme have been established at Tummar Guddhi and Hirebagewadi. A school for children of workers and a CBSE-model school have also been brought to the constituency.

A degree college has been sanctioned for the constituency, while steps are being taken to establish a B.Sc. Nursing College at Mannur, Hebbalkar said.

โ‚น1,000 crore for lake-filling projects

To support farmers during drought conditions, the government has provided funding for schemes aimed at filling more than 100 lakes across the constituency.

Hebbalkar said approximately โ‚น1,000 crore has been allocated from various sources for these and related development works.

Additional funds are being sought for the development of Rajahansagad Fort, while irrigation and infrastructure projects, including bridge-cum-barrages, are under way in several villages.

โ€œRoads, drainage, drinking water, schools, playgrounds, lakes and templesโ€”every sector essential for people’s lives is part of development. I am committed to the overall development of the constituency,โ€ Hebbalkar said.

She added that efforts would also be made to secure โ‚น25 lakh to โ‚น50 lakh grants for the construction of buildings for Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACs) in the constituency.
