When a seven month pregnant Demi Moore posed naked cradling her baby bump for a magazine cover in 1991, it caused an international outcry — some lauded the photographer Annie Leibovitz for making a powerful artistic statement, several others thought the image was obscene.
What Moore, however, started was an unimaginable trend — of women coming forward to be artistically photographed while they were pregnant.
The meaning of remembering and cherishing the old memories has seen a revolutionary change from telegram to photograph in 20st century. In this changing era, a lady who originally hails from Belagavi is giving sweet memories to the families through photographs in United States of America(USA).
Kiran Raibagi(29), was born and bought up in Belagavi is the lady who became a common name for maternity and baby photography in USA since past couple of years. After completion of schooling in Divine Providence, graduation at Bharatesh college of commerce and Post Graduation in MATS school of business in Belagavi, she is now settled in Seattle, USA after getting married to Sandeep.
She loved to capture the beautiful mountains, landscapes and forests there. However she realized it later how important it is to save best moments of life when she was pregnant.
Kiran says that her journey as a professional photographer started when she wanted to document a new beautiful phase of her life, when she had baby. The tiny fingers, smile of a baby was so emotional and amazing feelings that she decided to capture photographs of her baby. It was meaningful than the other areas of photography that she had tried she said with smile.
The passionate hobby literally started turning into job when Kiran got huge response to photograph of her daughter on Facebook. The social media has been a great channel to share her work and it got her newer clients each day from all over USA.
In just small span of time, Kiran has become very popular maternity, new born baby and family photographer in the Seattle. Not just people of Indian origin but also the locals fell for her photographic art. Kiran have developed studio in her home although she chooses to shoot most of the assignments in natural light camera in outdoor.
Kiran Raibagi said, although I am busy in shoots in US, I never miss to visit home town Belagavi in a year. Many people from Bengaluru who have seen her photographs on social media, have been asking to click there family photos also she said. The belief I had in treasuring life’s moments, got me behind the camera so that I could do the same for others.
I did everything from wedding to fashion but that didn’t delight me as much, until I was pregnant myself with my first daughter. The emotions of carrying a baby just amazing and I decided to document every phase she said.
