In a major development in the high-profile Lavoo Mamledar murder case, Belagavi Police submitted a 200-page charge sheet against Amirsuhail Shakilsab Sanadi (25), the accused in the February 15 incident that led to the death of the former Goa MLA.

The charge sheet, prepared last week, was officially filed at the Belagavi JMFC Court 70 days after the incident. Sanadi, an auto driver from Belagavi, has been charged under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS) for murder.

The charges stem from an altercation that took place at a hotel lobby in Khade Bazaar, where Mamledar collapsed after being assaulted by the accused. He was rushed to the District Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

“Based on the post-mortem report and supporting investigation, the cause of death was determined as a heart attack triggered by stress due to the assault. We have filed a case of murder under these grounds,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Rohan Jagdish.

Sources revealed that the public prosecutor has reviewed the charge sheet and sent it back to the Market Police Station for a few minor corrections. The revised charge sheet is expected to be re-submitted in court on Wednesday.

The sequence of events dates back to February 15, when Mamledar’s vehicle reportedly brushed against an auto rickshaw near Khade Bazaar. The accused allegedly followed Mamledar to a lodge and assaulted him in front of the hotel. The victim collapsed inside the lobby shortly after.

Hotel staff immediately alerted the police, and the accused was taken into custody. His bail plea was rejected, and he remains in judicial custody at Hindalga Central Prison in Belagavi.

Investigations are ongoing as the case progresses through legal proceedings.
