Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, today inaugurated the Sharavathi Bridge at Shivamogga — India’s second-longest cable-stayed bridge stretching 6 kilometers. While addressing the gathering, the Minister also turned the spotlight on key infrastructure developments in Belagavi district, assuring timely progress on multiple projects.
Gadkari announced that the six-laning of the Belagavi to Maharashtra border highway is on track, with 77% of the work completed. The ₹3,000 crore project is slated for completion by October 2026, and once operational, it will reduce the travel time from Belagavi to Sankeshwar to just 35 minutes, significantly easing logistics and commuter movement in the region.

In another boost to Belagavi’s future mobility, the Minister mentioned the much-anticipated Belagavi Ring Road project, which is being developed in two phases.
The Ring Road is aimed at decongesting city traffic, especially heavy vehicle movement, and creating better connectivity to national highways around Belagavi.
