After 15 years of waiting, compensation will finally be paid for two parcels of land used in the widening of Belagavi’s RPD College Road. The Belagavi City Corporation has agreed to pay a total of ₹1.84 crore to the affected landowners, following a directive from the Dharwad Bench of the Karnataka High Court.
The court was informed by the Corporation that the compensation process would be completed within eight days. In the RPD Road widening case, land belonging to three families was acquired. While one family has already received nearly ₹1 crore in compensation, a contempt petition was filed regarding the remaining two pieces of land for which payment had been pending.

Earlier, the High Court had ordered the acquisition and compensation for the remaining land. Despite obtaining the necessary approval from the DC and repeated follow-ups by municipal officials, the process had been delayed for over a month, prompting legal action.
Now, with the High Court monitoring the case closely, the compensation is finally being disbursed, marking a long-awaited resolution for the affected families.
