From commerce graduate to cultural torchbearer, Rahul Gite’s journey is a dance between destiny and dedication.

When Rahul Ramesh Gite traded balance sheets for beats back in 2010, he wasn’t making a career change — he was coming home to his calling. A commerce graduate from Jain College, Belagavi, and an alumnus of St. Paul’s High School, Rahul was raised in a household where the performing arts weren’t just encouraged — they were celebrated. It was only a matter of time before the rhythm in his heart outgrew the confines of a desk job.

“Getting a degree teaches you discipline; living your passion gives you purpose,” says Rahul, founder of Kalakaar The Arts Studio.

After a stint performing and choreographing with the Crusty Demons Dance Co. from 2010 to 2011, Rahul took the plunge and launched his first studio on Club Road — Gangstagroove Dance Studio — in 2012. The name changed, evolved, and matured just as the artist did. From “R2G Academy of Performing Arts” to its current identity, Kalakaar, the studio has become a cultural institution.

The Raas That Rocked a Region

What began in 2016 as a spark to introduce structured Raas Garba training in Belagavi has ignited a statewide celebration. Kalakaar was among the first to offer pre-season Garba workshops — now a norm across the city. But it wasn’t just about teaching steps; it was about reviving a spirit.

Over ten years, Kalakaar has transformed into a vibrant ecosystem that blends tradition with technique. The studio’s signature Raas Garba programs and high-energy dance fitness modules have drawn students and dance-lovers from Bangalore, Goa, Chandigarh, and Delhi. With Rahul at the helm and a dedicated team backing his vision, Kalakaar isn’t just a dance studio — it’s a movement.

Beyond the Dance Floor

What sets Kalakaar apart is its unwavering commitment to authenticity. Each workshop is steeped in cultural respect while remaining refreshingly accessible to newcomers. Whether it’s a first-time dancer in Angol or a seasoned Garba enthusiast from Gurgaon, Kalakaar welcomes them with the same energy: inclusive, joyful, and deeply rooted in tradition.

Their community events, vibrant masterclasses, and fitness innovations reflect more than physical movement — they mirror the pulse of a growing cultural renaissance in North Karnataka.

A Decade of Dedication — and Dancing

As Kalakaar The Arts Studio marks 10 years of making the world dance with it, it also celebrates something even more profound: a community built on rhythm, resilience, and relentless creativity.

To the thousands of dancers, collaborators, and supporters who’ve been part of this extraordinary journey, Rahul Gite offers his heartfelt gratitude. And to those still waiting in the wings, he extends a simple invitation — “Come dance with us.”
