9 Arrested, 50 Kg Ganja Seized in Major NDPS Case

Belagavi Police have arrested nine accused persons and seized 50.452 kg of ganja, along with 13 mobile phones, two cars, one motorcycle, and 11 other articles in a major narcotics case.

• 21/08/2025:
  1. Ismail @ Saddam Babu Sayyad (35), Karajaga Road, Kanagala, Hukkeri, Belagavi.
  2. Tajir Gudusab Bastawade (29), Jayanti Nagar, Kanagala, Hukkeri, Belagavi.
  3. Prathamesh Dileep Lad (29), Mahagaon, Gadhinglaj, Kolhapur (Maharashtra).
  4. Tejas Bhimrao Vajare (21), Jayanti Nagar, Kanagala, Hukkeri, Belagavi.
  5. Shivkumar Balakrishna Asabe, Mahagaon, Gadhinglaj, Kolhapur (Maharashtra).
  6. Ramzan Dastagir Jamadar (34), Laxmi Galli, Kanagala, Hukkeri, Belagavi; currently residing in Koregaon, Satara (Maharashtra).

  • A1. Tajib Abdul Razak Mulla, Mallapur, Gokak; currently residing at Chikkodi, Belagavi.
  • A2. Anurag Udaykumar Yaralanakar, Housing Colony, Sankeshwar, Belagavi.
• 21/07/2025:
  • A5. Abdulmajid Abdulsattar Mukhadam, Krishna Apartment, Lallubhai Compound, Mumbai (maternal uncle of prime accused Saddam).

A case (Crime No. 55/2025) has been registered under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act at CEN Police Station.

Investigations have revealed that prime accused Ismail @ Saddam Sayyad and his associates were purchasing ganja from Madhya Pradesh and distributing it in Belagavi city and district, Hubballi-Dharwad, Bengaluru, and Goa. Saddam has several cases already registered against him in Belagavi, Hubballi-Dharwad, and Pune.

On 21 August 2025, acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted accused Ismail @ Saddam Sayyad and Tajir Bastawade near Sulga village on Chandgad–Belagavi Road while they were travelling in two cars to meet associates at Hindalaga Jail. The operation led to multiple arrests and seizures.

Earlier, police had also executed a search warrant at Krishna Apartment, Lallubhai Compound, Mumbai, where 2.016 kg of ganja was recovered. Abdulmajid Mukhadam (A5) was arrested at the spot.
