Tension gripped Khadak Galli, Belagavi, on Friday night (October 3) after a stone-pelting incident broke out during the Urus procession of Mehaboob Subani Dargah.

According to reports, the procession, which usually passes through Shaniwar Khoot and Jalgar Galli, this year deviated from its regular route and entered Khadak Galli without prior permission. Trouble began when participants in the procession raised the slogan “I Love Mohammed.” Local Hindu residents reportedly questioned the slogan and the change of route, leading to a heated exchange. Stones were soon pelted, and some youths in the procession allegedly brandished swords while raising religious slogans.

Following complaints from Khadak Galli residents, the Belagavi Market Police registered a case and booked 50 individuals in connection with the violence, naming 10 specifically. Eleven people have already been detained for questioning.
