The corporators of the Belagavi City Corporation are all set for another study tour—this time to Indore. Scheduled soon after the Diwali festival, the tour aims to study Indore’s successful cleanliness model and solid waste management system.

This will be the second study tour of the year for the corporators, who had earlier visited Chandigarh in January. The upcoming visit is being organized by the Health Department, with a budget allocation of ₹60 lakh under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Officials confirmed that the funding has already been approved, eliminating the need for separate clearance from the state government. The delegation is expected to leave for Indore on October 26.

While the Chandigarh visit was hailed as a success, residents have pointed out that none of the lessons learned there have been implemented in Belagavi over the past nine months. Previous study tours too have shown little tangible outcome. Citizens now hope that the Indore visit will inspire concrete action toward improving Belagavi’s cleanliness and waste management.

The final itinerary is being worked out, including travel arrangements, which—like the Chandigarh tour—will be managed through MSIL, the state government’s agency.

In the past, corporator study tours have been held to Chandigarh, Shimla, Panaji, and Pune. Last year, a separate Indore visit had been proposed for the Health Standing Committee under the chairmanship of Shrishail Kamble, who had been particularly keen on the idea.
