A tragic incident has claimed the life of a 22-year-old girl from Mali Galli, who succumbed to her injuries at the Belagavi Civil Hospital on Monday, nearly two weeks after she was injured in a motorcycle accident allegedly caused by stray dogs near the railway station.

The deceased, identified as Aishwarya Narayan Badmanji, was reportedly riding a two-wheeler on October 21 when a group of dogs suddenly ran across her path. In an attempt to avoid hitting them, she lost control and fell off the motorcycle, sustaining severe head and bodily injuries.

Aishwarya was initially admitted to a private hospital, where she underwent treatment for several days. However, her condition worsened, and she was later shifted to the Belagavi Civil Hospital on October 31. Despite the efforts of doctors, she passed away on Monday afternoon.

Aishwarya lived with her aunt, brother, and sister in Mali Galli. Her untimely death has left the neighborhood in grief, with residents expressing concern over the growing menace of stray dogs in busy areas of the city.

The Traffic South Division Police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations.

Citizens and social groups have once again urged the Belagavi City Corporation to take immediate and effective measures to control the stray dog population and prevent such avoidable tragedies in the future.
