Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar held a meeting today with the General Managers of the South Western Railway Zone and senior officials to review the progress of major railway projects in the Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency.
1) Belagavi–Kittur–Dharwad New Railway Line
Shettar sought updates on the proposed new line and was informed that the land survey has been completed, except for around 16 acres near Dharwad. Officials said tenders will be invited as soon as the remaining land is handed over by the state government. The MP assured that he would follow up with state authorities to ensure early handover.

2) Lokapura–Ramadurga–Savadatti–Dharwad Line
The MP also reviewed the status of the preliminary survey for this new line. Railway engineers said a proposal seeking approval has already been submitted to the Railway Board. Shettar stressed that this line will greatly benefit devotees visiting major temples in Ramadurga, Savadatti, and Shirasangi, and asked officials to pursue the approval actively.
3) Delay in Second Lane Work ROB Near Third Gate, Belagavi
Officials highlighted challenges in starting the second lane work near Level Crossing No. 381 (Third Gate). The MP directed them to coordinate with the Police Department to obtain permission for traffic diversion. The General Manager instructed teams to visit the site and ensure the work begins at the earliest.
4) Slow Progress at Belagavi Railway Station
Under the Pradhan Mantri Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Belagavi Station is being upgraded. However, Shettar noted slow progress and public complaints. He instructed officials to fast-track work on lifts, escalators, and the foot overbridge. He also directed speedy completion of the foot overbridge at Ghataprabha Railway Station.
5) Demand for New Train Services
The MP placed several service requests, including new trains on the Belagavi–Managuru, Belagavi–Madgaon–Udupi–Manguru, and Belagavi–Chennai (via Tirupati) routes. He also suggested that the Belagavi–Bengaluru Vande Bharat train should depart from Belagavi at 6:00 AM and proposed that the Hubballi–Belagavi–Pune Vande Bharat service be operated daily instead of thrice a week.
