Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar has formally urged Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to rename the Belagavi Railway Station as Dr. Shivabasava Mahaprabhu Belagavi Railway Station.
Shettar met the minister at the new Parliament House in Delhi and pressed for early approval, noting that the Karnataka government has already forwarded the proposal to the Union Home Ministry. The Railway Ministry too has given its remarks on the matter.
According to Shettar, the minister responded positively and assured that the long-pending demand of Belagavi residents would be considered favourably.

During the meeting, the MP also conveyed public requests to revise the BelagaviโBengaluru Vande Bharat trainโs departure time from 5:20 am to 6:15 am. Vaishnaw said the ministry would examine the change for commutersโ convenience. Shettar further sought a superfast train service on the BengaluruโBelagaviโMumbai route.
The discussion also covered the proposed survey for a new railway line connecting LokapuraโRamadurgaโSavadattiโDharwad, with the minister assuring approval.
Shettar added that he has discussed these issues with Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna as well.
