The hidden camera blackmail case involving a woman government officer has taken a major turn, with police arresting another government official who allegedly masterminded the conspiracy in collusion with fake journalists running YouTube channels.

Police said Vinod T, a government employee who earlier worked in the same office as the victim, has been arrested for allegedly installing hidden cameras inside the officerโ€™s residence as part of a honeytrap and blackmail plot. The case falls under the jurisdiction of Malmaruti police station.

According to investigators, Vinod T conspired with three fake journalistsโ€”who were operating YouTube channelsโ€”to secretly record the officerโ€™s private moments and extort money from her. Police revealed that as many as eight hidden cameras were installed inside bulb holders in the house to collect private footage. The money allegedly extorted was to be shared among the accused, and there was even a plan to construct a house using the proceeds of the blackmail.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused acted out of revenge, as the woman officer was reportedly instrumental in Vinod Tโ€™s transfer following professional differences. Police stated that the conspiracy was aimed at sexually exploiting and intimidating the officer.

Mobile phones and other digital devices belonging to the accused have been seized, and a detailed forensic examination is underway. Police have already arrested three fake journalists in the case, and with the arrest of Vinod T, the entire conspiracy has now come to light.

Police Commissioner Bhushan Borse said the case is being investigated thoroughly and warned that strict action will be taken against those misusing digital platforms and posing as journalists to commit serious crimes.

Vinod T was produced before a magistrate and has been remanded to judicial custody. Police said further arrests are not ruled out as the investigation continues.
