Photo of author

Bittoo: Bapu.

Bapu: Yes Bittoo.

Bittoo: Did you see some activists recently felicitated potholes in the city as a mark of protest against sub-standard quality and habitual negligence towards their maintenance.

Bapu: Oh yes, I saw a report in a newspaper and also on Social media. I can understand their plight and state of helplessness Bittoo…

Bittoo: But, don’t you think it was embarrassing to the concerned authorities and the contractors responsible for such bad-to-worse conditions of the city roads and streets and drainage lines.

Bapu: O’course, if they are not thick skinned.

Bittoo: You mean to say they are thick skinned Bapu?

Bapu: Don’t put words in my mouth Bittoo.

Bittoo: Sorry Bapu, but at least tell me if our city, often glorified as the second capital of Karnataka, will ever have roads and streets to become models for other towns and cities to emulate?

Bapu: I don’t know Bittoo!

This is a citizen-centric new column, wherein the author(Bitto) is an ordinary, politically unaffiliated common man of the city who in his/her inimitable approach takes up various issues with the Bapu’s soul! Apparently, the interaction between them portrays ironies of sorts encountered by the common man and others in the city in a lighter vein. The author’s name will not be disclosed to the readers as he/she represents the common man of the society. This column aims at creating awareness and sensitising cross sections of our city on various issues of public concern only but in a lighter vein without holding any contempt against any institution or individual.
