44 lakhs surplus budget by Belgaum city corporation

ccbbudgetDC Jayram read the budget for the Belgaum city corporation for the year 2014-15. He presented a surplus budget of 44 lakhs  assuming he would have made more collections from property tax.

Main highlights of the budget:

In 2013-14 only 88530 property were taxed, this year 151000 is the target

Bifurcation of commercial-residential to re assessed

Random cross verification of self assessment scheme

4 new citizen service centres to be opened

CDP plan has been aproned hence there could be new constructions would come up

it is estimated to collect Rs.45 crores from property tax (19.5 crores collected in 13-14).

100 lakhs revenue expected from advertisements

Under Akram-Sakram scheme regularization of unauthorized constructions

763 lakhs estimated to be collected from building permission fees

130 laks estimated from trade licenses

33.21 lakhs set aside for gifts/moementos to honorable guests who have won state and national awards

300 lakhs for roads

50 lakhs for name plates for roads

48 lakhs for animal birth control measures

1100 lakhs for solid waste management

25 lakhs ward grant for each of the 58 wards for development works

Development of backward areas a sum of 900 lakhs set aside

4 welcome Arches to be built at entrance of Belgaum

250 lakhs for new office buildings

100 lakhs for bio gas project

300 lakhs for security of corporation property

75 lakhs for public toilets on pay and use basis

75 lakhs for bus shleters

100 lakhs special Mayor’s Fund which he can use for deelopment in any area under 5 lakhs in one ward

21 lakhs for purchase of new vehicles for Mayor, Dy,Mayor and Corporation commissioner

10 lakhs for special anti encroachment squad

5 lakhs for control of stray animals

RFP prepared for extension of 24×7 water supply to entire city

Awaiting GOI apprval for takking up work under UIDSSMT – 41 crores for road development of Patil galli and Shreenagar

525 lakhs for swimming pools at Hanuman Nagar, Azam Nagar, Ashok Nagar

40 lakhs for landscaping at Mal Maruti extension

1694 lakhs for road widening of Ramdev Galli, Ramling Khind galli, Mensi Galli, Raviwar peth and Kalmath Road.

Laser tek and musical fountains at Kote kere (lake) cost of Rs.2 crores

Badminton hall at Ashok Nagar and cricket stadium at Sardars ground

16 new gardens will be developed

    Has Belgaum Corporation cleared the dues payable by it to HESCOM.
