45-year-old swallows lord Krishna idol- surgically removed

A 45-year-old patient was successfully operated on in the KLE Hospital, Belagavi, who had inadvertently swallowed a small idol of Lord Krishna with holy water.

The left foot of the idol was stuck in the food pipe of the patient, which was taken out after surgery.

A 45-year male patient presented to the 𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 OPD at KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital & MRC with an alleged history of swallowing a foreign body with complaints of breathing difficulty, throat pain, and painful swallowing.

He had shown to a local doctor and had an X-ray of his chest with neck that showed an image of 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐤𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐧𝐚 in his neck!!

Later detailed history taking revealed that he drank holy water with an idol immersed in it every morning and this day, Alas! accidentally he had swallowed the lord himself..!!

OPD basis endoscopy confirmed this diagnosis and the patient was rushed for emergency surgery to remove the foreign body, it was a challenging case as the left foot of the lord’s idol was stuck in the patient’s food pipe and had to be freed.

After great difficulty and maneuvering the entire idol was finally removed by endoscopy through the mouth with immediate relief of symptoms!!
