Ambedkar road opposite BIMS is a death trap

Photo of author

In the past 3 days two people have lost their lives opposite BIMS on Dr.B R Ambedkar road due to a hit by heavy vehicles.

Yesterday, Shankishan Thampi (23) MBA student died when a truck hit his two Wheller at about 12.15 and he died in hospital at 3.30 p.m.

The truck driver has been arrested as tried to flee.

On Monday Sunil Hanchimani(20) died under similar circumstances when again a truck hit the two Wheller he was riding.

The said road is currently facing a traffic chaos as the road towards Sangolli Rayana Circle from Rani Chennamma circle is closed for the under pass work. There is heavy traffic on the said road.
After these two incidents the need for the Ring road is need of the hour but it seems the Ring road is a BIG dream for citizens of Belgaum.

The notable factor here is each time it is the heavy vehicles that are causing the accidents and if the ring road existed such incidents could have been avoided.

  1. On 29th Sept’12 one of my friend, Suhas Devarmani met with an accident on the same road at night 11:00pm. No one knows how he met with the accident. His family suspects, he lost balance of his bike and hit the footpath. He was in hospital for 3 months. Finally he took his last breath on 8th Jan’13 at LakeView hospital.
