Belagavi Startup Ecosystem Gets a Boost: VMF and KLS IMER Join Forces to Nurture Startups

Buzzing with entrepreneurial energy, Belagavi witnessed a vibrant Startup Conclave on 16th January 2024, organized by the Vigyan Manthan Foundation (VMF) in collaboration with KLS IMER, to celebrate National Startup Day. Over 150 enthusiastic attendees, including aspiring entrepreneurs, angel investors, and business leaders, converged at the KLS IMER auditorium to delve into the exciting world of startups.

The event started with a warm welcome address by Ms. Chetana Sarang, Director of VMF, who outlined the foundation’s mission to nurture and support budding entrepreneurs in Belagavi.

The keynote address by Dr. Manjeet Jain, Founder of Indigo Global Schools and an Angel Investor, set the tone for the day. Dr. Jain urged aspiring founders to embrace their inner dreamer and “be crazy, break the conventional mindset, and chase something big” He emphasized the importance of “ethical jugaad”, the art of frugal innovation, as a key tool for climbing the entrepreneurial ladder. His candid and bold speech resonated with the audience, sparking a lively Q&A session that crackled with entrepreneurial energy. The event’s highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between VMF and KLS IMER. This strategic partnership aims to foster a vibrant startup ecosystem in Belagavi, providing crucial support, resources, and mentorship to aspiring entrepreneurs. Dr. Prakash Mugali, Founder of VMF, and Dr. Arif Shiek, Director of KLS IMER also graced the occasion, joining hands for the MoU signing.

Mr. Venkatesh Patil, Founder of Belagavi Oxygen and an angel investor, further fueled the entrepreneurial spirit by highlighting the strengths of Belagavi’s entrepreneurial community and the city’s growing startup ecosystem.

Shri. R.S. Mutalik, Chairman of KLS IMER, delivered the presidential remarks, highlighting the institute’s dedication to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship within its student community. Prof. Amit Kulkarni, the KLS IMER Incubation Coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers. The event was expertly navigated by Mrs. Rohini Bembalgi, who served as the Master of Ceremony.

Adding to the excitement, members of VMF themselves seized the opportunity to pitch their innovative ideas to potential investors present at the conclave.

A key takeaway from the conclave was the announcement that the KLS IMER incubation center is now open to applications for co-working spaces for aspiring entrepreneurs and VMF is open for memberships for free. This initiative provides a valuable platform for startups to flourish, offering access to mentorship, resources, and networking opportunities.
