Residents of Tanaji Galli have firmly expressed their opposition to the construction of a railway overbridge, at LC No. 386 citing concerns that it would negatively impact nearby industries and homes. During an inspection by MP Jagdish Shettar at the site on Tuesday afternoon, locals emphasized that the narrow lane would become even more congested with an overbridge. Instead, they suggested that the railway gate be permanently closed if needed but insisted that an overbridge is unnecessary.
The area is already served by two overbridges—one at Kapileshwar and another on Old Dharwad Road—making the construction of a third redundant, according to the residents. Senior officials from South Western Railway (SWR) and the Public Works Department were also present during the inspection.

MP Shettar listened to the citizens’ concerns and assured them that their demands would be carefully considered. “As a people’s representative, I will ensure that actions regarding the overbridge align with the wishes of the community,” he stated.
Any development in Belgaum are opposed by its own people whether it is RoB, ring road, fly over, airport expansion…etc.
Then we complain about no development like industries or IT parks and youth moves to metro cities for employment nothing will happen in belgaum with this mind set people. Why to blame then other cities like Hubli for its faster rate of development or favourism.
Wherever govt feels fit they can construct considering demands of affecting people, but it must b completed in time frame n of quality work.
