The Karnataka High Court reserved its judgment on March 18 on an appeal filed by the Karnataka government against a single-judge verdict setting aside notifications enabling the conduct of Board Exams by KSEAB for students of classes 5, 8, 9 and 11.

In a disturbing turn of events, the fate of countless school students in St. 5, 8, and 9 hangs in uncertainty as their Board exams have been halted following a stay order issued by the Court. Despite the conclusion of the hearings in the Karnataka High Court, the much-awaited judgment is yet to be published, leaving both students and parents in a state of distress.

The delay in the judicial process has thrown the academic schedules of these young learners into disarray. While some students may have completed their exams, a significant portion remains stuck in a state of limbo, unsure of when or if they will be able to resume their assessments. This situation has compounded the stress and anxiety levels among students, who should ideally be enjoying their well-deserved holidays.

For parents, the ordeal is twofold. Not only are they witnessing their children’s education being disrupted, but they are also grappling with logistical challenges and financial implications. Many had made travel plans assuming that exams would conclude as scheduled, only to have them abruptly canceled or postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing legal impasse.

The school authorities are also in a fix as the SSLC exams commence on March 25 and now is the time for evaluation of these papers. Now the teachers will have to work overtime and yes Elections duties are also there.

It is deeply concerning that the courts seem to be overlooking the urgency of the matter concerning school education. The education and well-being of our children should be given utmost priority, especially in times of such uncertainty and disruption caused by external factors. The delay in delivering a verdict is exacerbating the situation, leaving families in a state of distress and uncertainty.

Since March 12, when the issue first arose, students, parents, and educators alike have been eagerly awaiting a resolution. However, with each passing day, the frustration and apprehension among stakeholders continue to grow. The prolonged wait for a judgment is not only impacting the academic progress of students but also taking a toll on their mental and emotional well-being.

One can’t help but question why such a crucial matter concerning the education of our youth has not been expedited. Regardless of the nature of the exams—be it board exams or regular assessments—the fact remains that these young souls are bearing the brunt of this unnecessary delay and they have to face exams.

In light of these circumstances, parents are left with little recourse but to wait anxiously for the courts to deliver a verdict. However, they urge the authorities to prioritize the issue and expedite the process to minimize the disruption to their children’s education. The welfare of our future generation should not be sacrificed at the altar of bureaucratic delays and legal procedures. It’s time for swift action to ensure that the rights and well-being of these young students are upheld without further delay.

  1. It is not understandable why HC is not at all bothered to deliver the verdict evenbthough hearing was over three days ago. State govt is also not interested to pressure the HC to wind up the issue. People should think twice before electing any govt. Definitely the present govt is inefficient.

  3. Why governments are playing with small children’s. In one full year government cannot decide about the board exam. Why at last moment. Fees for next academic already declared. Government wants only money & not bothered of children’s education.
