Farmers begin their protest in Chennamma Circle

Photo of author

Farmers have blocked the Chennamma circle and are currently protesting there. Entire traffic via Chennamma Circle has been diverted.

Farmers have started this protest so that the elected representatives look at their problems and solve them. Their main demand has been a higher price for Sugarcane and also other produce.
The Bandh call given by Farmers’ organisations, including Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, Hasiru Sene and Bharatiya Krishik Samaj has got little response and things are normal in the city as of now. These organisations have called for a ‘Belgaum bandh’ on Monday in support of their demands: announcement of State Advisory Price (SAP) for sugarcane, compensation to Bt Cotton growers and other demands of associations representing contract workers in government services.
