The seventh edition of the Belagavi International Kite Festival will be held for two days from January 21 at Angadi College grounds, Savgaon road.
Abhay Patil of Parivartan Parivar who organises the event, said here on Sunday that the two-day kite festival was part of a four-day fest, which included an inter-state Youth Festival ‘Umang’ and ‘Women’s Festival’, which would be held on January 17 and 18.
International kite flyers from 17 countries viz. Canada, United Kingdom, Estonia, Germany, Malaysia, Argentina, Russia, Brazil, Australia, France, Italy, Netherlands, South Africa, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Belgium; and 22 national level flyers from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala and Gujarat will be participating in the fest.
Stunt and miniature kites will be two new attractions this year, and there may even be “foam kites”. Both days, illuminated kites will be flown at night.
In response to huge demands by children and parents, the balloon festival had been incorporated for the second time this year.
