Lohar fills potholes for the good in Agasge

agasge belgaumThe small village of Agasge about 12 kms from Belgaum which is very similar to most villages with bad roads and no one to look after them. 48-year-old Prakash Lohar who is a black smith by profession and even when he hasnt read about Corporate social Responsibility (CSR) or for that matter can’t even say this works perilously for 3 hours each day from 6 AM to 9AM filling pot holes in his village. When asked why does he do this? Lohar said if my efforts can make a difference then why not I toil for the society.

He hails from a BPL family and somehow earns his living from his business and watching his work a few youths now have joined him in this noble cause. Lohar started filling potholes after he saw some children and elderly injured when they fell down on the road due to potholes, as the Gram Panchayat was least bothered to help the villagers, Lohar thought it fit that he only should fill the potholes and why should one wait for someone else to do it for you.

Lohar is also and environmentalist and plants trees whenever he can and also asks the youths in his village to do the same. He may be doing a small task of filling potholes on his own but the social responsibility that Lohar is shown to the world is of greater importance.
