Intensive scrutiny must be conducted at the checkpoints established against the backdrop of the Lok Sabha elections. DC Belagavi Nitesh Patil has suggested that immediate action should be taken to adhere to the regulations, including seizing unauthorized cash, alcohol, or other items, if found illegally transported, by the law.
Addressing officials at the scheduled meeting of designated election observers held on Tuesday (Feb 02), they emphasized the need to verify documents about proper vehicle transportation and financial transactions.
Officials have been instructed to conduct thorough vehicle inspections strictly as per the Election Commission’s directives.
DC emphasized that designated authorities must carry identification cards during the scheduled vehicle inspections. Nitesh Patil advised that officials must strictly adhere to the protocols for vehicle inspections and financial verification.
Rahul Shinde, Chief Executive Officer ZP, emphasized the necessity to report to senior officials immediately regarding any unauthorized cash or alcohol found at check-posts.
Already, two instances of unauthorized banners being used have been reported. Complaints have been lodged in three such cases. Stringent action must be taken against such violations, as stated by Dr. Bhimashankar Guledd, Superintendent of Police Belagavi.
