Lokayukta Raids Unearth Assets Worth Over 1.48 Crore

In a major crackdown on alleged corruption, the Karnataka Lokayukta conducted raids on Friday at three locations linked to Siddalingappa Ningappa Banasi, District Manager of the Devaraj Urs Backwards Classes Development Corporation, based at Suvarna Soudha, Belagavi.

The operation, registered under Crime No. 10/2025, was led by Belagavi Lokayukta SP Hanamantharay. Searches were carried out at Banasi’s residence in Vidyanagar (Belagavi), and at his house and office in Bekkeri village, Rayabhaga taluk.

Immovable Assets

Officials uncovered immovable assets estimated at ₹1.02 crore, which include:

  • 4 sites valued at ₹37,66,000
  • 1 house worth ₹65,00,000
  • Details on agricultural land were not disclosed in the initial release.

Movable Assets

The movable assets seized during the raid total approximately ₹45.42 lakh, including:

  • Cash: ₹18,260
  • Jewellery: ₹34,64,691
  • Vehicles: ₹10,60,000
  • Additional items of value are under review.

Total Disproportionate Assets

The total estimated value of disproportionate assets stands at ₹1,08,33,951, accounting for 85.98% more than his known sources of income.
