At the age of 32, a young man from Khanapur Taluka was involved in a tragic road traffic accident and was admitted to KLES Hospital in Belagavi with a severe head injury. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, the patient was declared brain-dead by a panel of experts. In a remarkable display of courage and selflessness, the next-of-kin of the deceased decided to donate the patient’s organs to those in need.

Jeevsarthakathe (SOOTO), Bengaluru, allocated the patient’s lungs to Narayan Hrudayalay, Bengaluru, his liver to Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru, one kidney to KIMS Hubli, and the other kidney and skin to KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital, Belagavi.

The lungs and liver were airlifted to Bengaluru by 7.30 PM Indigo flight, while the kidney was sent by a green corridor to KIMS, Hubli. The police provided a green corridor from KLES Hospital to Sambra Airport and to KIMS, Hubli to ensure the safe and immediate transportation of the organs.

The family’s noble gesture of donating organs to save the lives of others is truly commendable and deserves to be widely appreciated. In the midst of their grief, the family has shown an incredible commitment to helping those in need. We pray that the departed soul may rest in peace and that the family may find the strength to cope with their loss.
