Sujit Mulgund and a group of concerned citizens met with the Deputy Commissioner of Belagavi, urging the construction of the road from Old PB Road to Bank of India Circle, Shahpur, strictly as per the alignment detailed in the original Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP). They emphasized the need to adhere to proper land acquisition procedures to ensure fairness and legality.
The residents highlighted the disruptions and legal issues caused by deviations in a recent road-widening project. These changes not only resulted in the unlawful demolition of properties but also neglected the mandatory land acquisition processes, leading to hardships for affected citizens and financial liabilities for the City Corporation.
The group pointed to the success of the #SaveBelagaviCorporation campaign, which exposed these violations and halted further unauthorized activities. This citizen-led initiative brought public attention to deviations from the approved CDP and the misuse of public funds, preventing further harm.

To address these issues, the residents urged authorities to:
Construct the road as per the old CDP map.
Follow the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 for acquiring required land.
Issue proper notices to property owners and ensure fair compensation for affected individuals.
The residents believe that adherence to the old CDP and proper procedures will resolve ongoing challenges and rebuild public trust in the administration. They have called for swift action from the Deputy Commissioner to ensure the project proceeds transparently and lawfully.
