The quarterly review meeting of Karnataka Development Programmes (KDP) witnessed MLA Asif (Raju) Sait raising concerns about water supply from Hidkal Reservoir to industries in Hubli-Dharwad. Sait demanded an immediate cessation of industrial water usage if formal permissions were not in place.
In response, Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Mohmmad Roshan clarified that 0.58 TMC of water from the Hidkal Reservoir had been allocated for Kittur and Dharwad industrial areas as per regulations.
He emphasized that no water is being drawn from the reservoir’s backwaters. Instead, industries are only permitted to use water released from the reservoir, adhering to the guidelines.
