Shri Suresh C. Angadi, Hon’ble Minister of State of Railways inspected Kapileshwar Bridge of Belagavi and conducted window trailing inspection of Belagavi – Hubballi Section. Later he held a works review meeting with officers of South Western Railway at Rail Soudha, Gadag Road, Hubballi today i.e. on 23.06.2019.
During inspection, he stressed on the provision and maintenance of passenger amenities. He advised for making museum/ Heritage room in Platform No. 1 at Belagavi Railway station, showcasing a rich history of Belagavi.
At Kapileshwar Railway Over bridge, he has asked Officials to explore the option of providing lift/ Subway to facilitate pedestrian movement.
He asked Railway officials to speed up doubling and electrification works in Londa – Miraj section.
Work for construction of new station building at Belagavi Railway Station along with second entry shall begin soon, he said. Hon’ble Minister instructed for taking up work of construction of Goods shed at Sambre on the fast track so that Belagavi goods shed can be dismantled on completion of said work.
Later he chaired a review meeting with officials of South Western Railway. In this meeting, he instructed all the officers and staff to work diligently for expeditious completion of projects. He stressed that Safety, punctuality, and cleanliness shall be the focus areas.
He instructed to open Kottur-Hosapete line & Alnawar-Ambewadi line for passenger traffic at the earliest.
The highlight of inspection and meeting was Hon’ble Minister of State of Railways has directed to introduce a new daily special train between Belagavi and Bengaluru by next week. A 14 coach train with one each of First AC, second AC and third AC and 7 sleeper coaches will be introduced. Tentative timings of the train will be Belagavi / Bengaluru departure around 9 pm and arrival at Bengaluru/ Belagavi by 7 am next day morning. Hon’ble Minister has also enquired the status of the proposal of extension of train no.17301/2 Mysuru-Dharwad-Mysuru exp. up to Miraj.
Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, General Manager; Shri B.B Singh, Additional General Manager; Shri Rajesh Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager; B.G Mallya, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer; and other officers were present.
Now we have better option for travel to and from Belgavi to Bangaloru with this new train thanks to Mr. Angadi for his action.

My request to Hon’ble MOSR that the tatkal train proposed from Belagavi to Bengaluru should be on permanent basis. My another suggestion is that the population of Belagavi City is growing day by day and in future the existing Railway station will not be in a position to take full load of the Passengers. Hence it is better to shift the existing railway station to Gandhinagar or after the Highway bridge so that the traffic can be eased out. There is lot of vacant land which can be made use of. This will help to passengers coming from Bus stand & Airport and will also help people going to other places. The much awaited line from Dharwad to Belagavi can easily be linked to the new place. My request to Belgaum Mahanagar Palika to look into this matter seriously and plan 4 way road from Khanapur Road to NH-4 to the proposed new railway station.
Good Initiative Steps in ameliorating the hardships of the locals of Belagavi and Interstate travelling public is now on the cards. Only time will tell the outcome ?????
