Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, and IT & BT, Priyank Kharge has announced that flat-floor factories with plug-and-play facilities will be set up in Belagavi, Hubballi-Dharwad, and Mysuru, expanding industrial development beyond Bengaluru. He assured us that this initiative would be officially announced in the upcoming budget.
Speaking at TiECON-2025, the annual entrepreneurs and innovators’ conference organized by the Hubballi Chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Mr. Kharge reaffirmed his 200% commitment to making this vision a reality.
He also revealed plans to revamp the IT Park in Hubballi, which currently houses a large number of non-IT companies. In collaboration with KEONICS, the government aims to transform the facility into a skilling center and establish a Nano Global Capability Centre (GCC). He emphasized that the region’s strength lies in its skilled human resource and assured government support to enhance and harness this potential.
Further, Mr. Kharge pledged to set up a Centre of Excellence at IIIT Dharwad, consulting academicians and industry experts to ensure its success.
Acknowledging the rise of start-ups in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, he admitted that more needs to be done and assured entrepreneurs of the State Government’s open-door policy. “We are here to listen, support, and act. Bring us your programs, and we will ensure implementation,” he told the gathered innovators. He also promised increased government participation in initiatives like TiE, aimed at fostering industrial and technological growth.
