Restricted Area boards being removed by Army

army_restrictedArmy officers here, on the night of 8th, 9th of November 2013, had put up signs outside both gates of the Fort and on many public roads in Cantonment, declaring the roads to be a โ€œRestricted Areaโ€.

Several citizens of Belgaum had raised a storm of protest and the โ€˜The Belgaum Cantonment Residentsโ€™ Welfare Associationโ€™ had contacted all senior officials, and Shri Suresh Angadi, M.P. personally carried the protest letters to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister of India whom he personally met in his Lok Sabha office on 10th December 2013. He has also asked questions on this matter and the answer is expected on Monday, the 16th of December 2013.

Today (13th December) at about 9:00 am, the Army Officers have removed the โ€œRestricted Areaโ€ boards near the Fort.

 

The Army rebuts Terror attack input on Belgaum. The Army had denied any terror attack input.
