ajanta filmAJANTA FILM SOCIETY (AFS), Belgaum, established in 1982, will inaugurate its AJANTA CULTURAL CENTRE at Visvesvarayya Nagar, on 15/December/2013 at 11:00 am at the hands of Honorable Shri Firoz N Sait, MLA (Belgaum, North).

The inauguration event will be presided over by Honorable Shri Suresh Angadi, MP (Belgaum).

Shri N.Jayaram, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Belgaum, Shri Ninad Kale (Film Director and Scriptwriter from Kolhapur), and Shri Sharad Desai (Film Appreciation Expert from Mumbai) will be the guests of honour .

AFS has held numerous film festivals and film appreciation workshops in Belgaum for film lovers over the past 31 years with the help of Rupali, Globe, Swaroop, and Huns Talkies. Other bodies that have allowed us to use their facilities include Basaveshwar Bank, Lokmanya Bank, City Central Library, St. Mary’s High School, St. Paul’s High School, Sardar’s High School, Bharatesh High School, and In Belgaum Hall at Risaldar Galli.

However, in all these years, a major limitation for AFS in its activities was lack of an independent space where film showings followed by useful discussions could be held at our own convenience. Now, thanks to grant of MLA funds [Rs.4 Lakhs] by the Honorable Shri Firoz Sait, MLA (Belgaum, North), and other infrastructure provided by Irrigation Department, Government of Karnataka, AFS will be able to hold film related activities such as showings, discussions, film festivals, trainings and workshops regularly.

The inauguration will be followed by a showing of a short film
