Saplings fair from June 28

Horticulture department is gearing up to organise the ‘Sasya Sante’ (saplings fair)at Hulme Park, Club Road Belagavi for one week from June 28.

The main objective of this fair is to encourage the kitchen gardening, terrace gardening, organic food production.

saplingsFor the first time in the state, About 4 lakh plants of fruits, flowers, vegetables and decorative plants from Dhupdal, Khanapur, Saudatti, Kittur, Hidkal dam and other horticulture region offices of Belagavi will exhibited for the sale for general public and farmers.

Many decorative plants such as Dressina, Palm, Dipen Bagia, Crotan, Exora, Akelip, Arelia, Agasgia, Irantimom, Rat ki Rani, fruit plants such as Papaya, Mango, Jackfruit, Guava, coconut, Chikku, Lemon, Jamun, pamogranate, Grapes, banana and vegetables such as Brinjal, Chillie, cabbage, Cauliflower, Tomato and many more will be exhibited at this event.

The Horticulture department has also planned to create awareness among the people to not use chemical fertilizers and pesticides and grow natural fruits and veggies using compost, organic fertilizers.
