The Belagavi Smart city ltd will have to pay a whopping Rs. 10 crore as compensation to the contractor of the Mandoli road as per the MSME court order.

In January 2016, Belagavi was selected in the first 20 cities then in 2017 tenders were floated and in December 2017 the actual work started and was to finish in 12 months time.

NARENDRA CHUNILAL PANANI ( PRIME CIVIL INFRASTRUCTURES PVT. LTD.) did not complete the said work as there were issues with compensation to be paid for the land acquisition.

The said contractor approached the MSME court which gave an order that as the land was not handed over to the contractor he could not finish the work and hence he should be compensated for the same with Rs. 10 Crores.

The Mandoli road was an 18 mtr wide road as per CDP it was converted into a 24 mtr wide road by BUDA. The buildings which were to be demolished approached the court and got a stay as they demanded compensation and the stay order continued.

The road work is still incomplete. No street lights, somehow the road has been now completed by a local contractor as the citizens were facing a lot of hardships.

The working style of the Belagavi smart city has come to the fore with this again as it will have to shell out 10 crore even when the road is incomplete.
