As the stray dog menace intensified in Belagavi with more than 6 cases being reported on a single day from localities such as Hanuman Nagar, Jayanagar, Vinayak Nagar and Lakshmi Tekdi.
These are the ones known as they were brought to civil hospital treatment, where Ashoka Chandaragi, President, Belagavi District Action committee of Kannada organizations was also present.
Bringing this issue to light, he has spoken to the health officer as well.
They have been urging the city’s civic authorities to immediately rid the streets and residential areas of the packs of strays and vaccinate them all. However, anger is brewing as they claim no visible action has been taken yet.
The authorities need to look into this with urgency and not wait for a fatal accident to occur. Also, it would be beneficial if the kids get lessons in school on tackling stray dogs. A similar exercise is being undertaken in Bangalore currently.
