Speaker Basavaraj Horatti has announced that the winter session of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly is likely to commence from December 8, 2025, in Belagavi. (normally 10 days)
Addressing the media, Horatti emphasized the need to focus on the developmental issues of North Karnataka, expressing concern that legislators from the region have not been proactive on such matters. “MLAs from South Karnataka actively discuss development, but those from the North have fallen behind,” he remarked.
To ensure fair representation, Horatti stated that Thursday will be dedicated to discussions on North Karnataka’s issues, and a circular will be sent to all MLAs within the next two days. “We will make sure that no topic related to North Karnataka’s development is ignored during the session,” he assured.

He also voiced concern over the growing trend of money influencing votes, criticizing both voters who accept money and politicians who offer it. “It is wrong to vote by taking or giving money,” Horatti said, expressing disappointment that many MLAs remain silent on this issue.
