Autos ferrying school students need to have special permit

Print Friendly

The state government has now decided to issue special permits to auto-rickshaws ferrying school students. As many as 18 conditions have been put for the new permit. About 400 or even more autos ferry children to school each day. As per the current law, autorickshaws can carry only three adults or six children but under the new permit more children can be accommodated. Autorickshaws in the city charge a minimum of Rs 250 per student for a distance of 2.5km per month. However, most autorickshaws brazenly violate the rules and pack children in their vehicles as if no ceiling exists on the number of children. It is common to see autos packed with 10 and sometimes 12 children precariously hanging onto whatever little space is available in the vehicle, which is already stuffed with their school bags and tiffins. 1. GOVERNMENT CANNOT DO ANYTHING, ONLY SPEAK. WHEN SOMEONE’S KID IS IN DAMGER THEN TEIR PARENTS WILL SUFFER. ALSO PARENTS SHOULD PERSONALLY LOOK AFTER THIS MATTER WITH AUTHORITIES

  2. Safety of children should be the priority.

  3. I have seen lots of student in a rickshaw with little space & they drive harshly too.

Very good move, but in vain, we all know our police will never be able to implement this nor other rules because they take up jobs only to take bribe- because all government job is the best bussines afterall without investments & relaxed duty with lots of leave – great !!!

  4. No is bothered to ask them or any officials interested to question them :(
