Mullai Muhilan M P takes charge as CEO of Belagavi Smart city Ltd

IAS officer Mullai Muhilan M P today took charge as the CEO of the Special Purpose Vehicle made for the implementation of the Smart city project, namely Belagavi Smart city Ltd.

The IAS officer who was earlier posted as Assistant commissioner Bagalkote will now look after the Smart city implementation which is a welcome sign.

Mullai Muhilan hails from Tamil Nadu and holds a degree of Computers from PSNA College of Engg & Technology, Dindigul Anna University. He is a 2013 batch IAS officer and born in 1986.

With the appointment of a full time CEO for Belagavi Smart city limited, the citizens can hope for some speedy implementation of the projects under the Smart city tag.

According to the norms laid down in the Smart city scheme it seems SPV will be headed by full-time CEO (fixed term of three years), with nominees of Central Government, State Government and ULB on its Board. Hence we can assume that Mullai Muhilan would be holding this post for the next three years.

The SPVs will plan, appraise, approve, release funds, implement, manage, operate, monitor and evaluate the Smart City development projects. 

392 crores already have been deposited in the SPV account by the centre but no work could commence as yet in Belagavi.
But with this appointment things should move on quicker.

Now some more official work will have to be completed under the Companies act where he will have to apply for Director Identification Number (DIN) then a resolution will have to be passed by the current board of directors and then the CEO will have the complete steering of the SPV with him.
