More than 80% of the enumeration forms collected as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls have been digitised in Belagavi district, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan said on Friday.
Addressing the media, Roshan said Belagavi has 41.07 lakh registered voters. Of these, enumeration forms submitted by 33,10,399 voters have already been digitised.
He noted that Belagavi’s digitisation progress is ahead of the State average, which currently stands at around 70%.
“Achieving over 80% digitisation in a large district like Belagavi is a significant milestone,” Roshan said.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, 16 Assembly constituencies in the district have crossed the 80% digitisation mark. However, the progress is comparatively lower in the two urban constituencies, with Belagavi South recording around 65% digitisation and Belagavi North about 59%.
The next stage of the Special Intensive Revision will be the publication of the draft electoral rolls on August 18. Eligible voters whose names are missing from the draft rolls will be able to apply for inclusion by submitting Form 6.
Roshan said the district administration has been regularly updating representatives of recognised political parties on the progress of the SIR exercise, in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka.
He added that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are working closely with Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to verify voter records, remove the names of deceased electors, and update entries for voters who have shifted residence within an Assembly constituency or elsewhere in the district.
