7 members of SDPI and PFI arrested from Belagavi

The Belagavi police led by DCP Ravindra Gadadi raided Offices and homes of members of the Popular Front of India(PFI) and SDPI( Social Democratic Party of India) in Belagavi today morning.

The raids commenced at 4 am on Tuesday morning and as per sources 7 persons have been detained for further investigation and have been sent to Hindalga jail.

The arrested inckude SDPI district president Abidkhan Gouskhan Kadoli, Badruddin Hasamsab Pate of Asadkhan Colony; Salauddin Babusab Killewale of Veerbhadra Nagar; Samiulla Abdulmajid Peerzade of Aman Nagar; Zakirulla Farooq Faizi of Siddeshwar Nagar; Rehan Abdulaziz and Zaheer Gousmodin Gheewale of Azam Nagar.

Four days ago PFI activists had blocked the highway for half an hour near Kakati Belagavi to protest against the ED raid on the house of PFI leaders in the state. there was a heated argument between the police and PFI workers.

These raids are a followup of the nationwide raids by NIA against PFI.

  1. Few areas of Belagavi are hotbed for radicalism. We have seen how these elements work against the fabric of national interest and blindly interpret religious guidelines that inhibit progress of society. Ofcourse there is always petty politicians who want to take advantage of this. Our law enforcement and civil society must stay above all these stuff.
