In light of the fourth wave of COVID-19, the Karnataka government has issued a set of guidelines to ensure the safety of its citizens during the upcoming New Year celebrations. Masks are now mandatory in all enclosed spaces, including movie theatres, schools, and colleges. Furthermore, New Year festivities must end before 1 am.

The government has also advised pregnant women, children, elderly citizens, and those with underlying health conditions to avoid public gatherings. In closed-door events, the number of people allowed inside must not exceed the number of available seats. Additionally, the use of sanitisers, face masks, and full vaccination will be mandatory in schools.

The Karnataka government has taken these measures in response to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in some parts of the world, including China. Last week, the government also decided to conduct mandatory testing for Influenza Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) in the state.

The Karnataka government is committed to ensuring the safety of its citizens during the New Year celebrations. By following the guidelines, citizens can enjoy the festivities while staying safe and healthy.
