Belgaum to Goa via Chorla images of the road

We had posted Belgaum to Goa via Chorla and here now have some exclusive images of the road.

The work on the Road had begun in 1979 but this route was never taken seriously and even now at the border between Karnataka and border the road is horrible and also the work is in going on a snails pace. A deadline of May 31, 2012 has been given but we dont expect the same to be achieved.chorla belgaum

The 50.10km-long road stretch from Peeranwadi to Goa border, were planned in 2007 but due to the objections raised by the forest department work could not begin.
In April 2011, KRDCL (Karnataka road development corporation ltd) got the sanction for the road. This road passes through the reserved forest areas of Belgaum district and through the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary.

So currently this is a good option to reach Maupsa in 2 hours on a bike.

The Road via Anmod from Ramnagar is horrible and at time there are no signs of a road. After this when one lands in Goa there are thousands of mining trucks from Mulem to Ponda and if one gets stuck in this chaos with thousand of trucks on each side it would take one atleast over an hour to reach Ponda.

Road is in good condition except 10kms after goa border toll boot chorla ghat the road has gone bad.shortest path 126km .there are 3 routes you can take with a difference of 3-5 km.

via margao-kundaim-bhanastari (traffic can be issue in peak time)
via margao-curti-savoiverem(bit far but no traffic)
via margao-tisk-usgao (good becoz mining operation is shut, shortest)

The roads in Goa are beautiful to drive on. Karnataka generally is amess. We should use this forum to bring puclic servants to account. Just drove Belgaum to Goa and got a free body massage on Karnataka portion of the route

Its not shocking any more the neglect and callousness has become an everyday affair. If only some one would find out who is the contractor and how much has been spent so far, and is the contractor related to some politician or a senior bureucrat, which certainly must be the case. An RTI application will reveal some intersting facts and clues.
