It has been over a month now that Belgaum corporation has been in the news and again for reason unwanted for. But this time its time to cheer for the Belgaum City Corporation as it was awarded the National Urban Water Award 2011 in New Delhi recently.
‘National Urban Water Award 2011′ is given in recognition of its excellence in urban water management. Commissioner, Y.S. Patil, and city engineer R.S. Nayak received the award from Union Minister of Urban Development Kamal Nath.
The award is a recognition for the BCC’s work in rejuvenation of 19 large and 22 small open-wells which were constructed during the British rule to increase drinking water supply to residents of the city and also for the implementation of the 24 hours water supply in 10 wards of the city.
The wells were rejuvenated with the support of Rotary Club, INDAL Aluminium Company Ltd. and social workers.
wow congrats Belgaum corporation make these kinds development rather border issues 🙂
Lol, these guys can also win award?
where r the other awards BCC…?? you have to get them ..
Real celebrations should be after successful commissioning of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in the Belgaum.. at present most of the sewage is going to Bellary nallah without even pre-treatment… this is the main for ground water contamination in the city premises..!
Jai ho…!
@Vishal… I totally agree with you. It is good to know that Belgaum has been given an award, just to know that Delhi knows there is place known as Belgaum…. But the increasing population of the city and water supplied every two to three days makes it a joke…….I really don't understand the fact on which the award in given..
Jai Hind
Well Well Well.. this award is for the corporation, the real employees, like the engineers, officers and others who worked to excel and achieve it, it has no contribution of the corporators. (corporators were busy fighting on border dispute)
Thank you real time employees (appointed by the govt) specially the corporation comissioner, Congratulations.
If they are giving award to CCB, then imagine how bad are the conditions in other cities.
