Thousands have an aspiration that she/he cracks the entrance tests like the Karnataka Common Entrance Test but much fail. With the advent of mobile and apps a Belgaumite currently in the USA has come up with this unique idea of a mobile app which will help them in their preparation for such tests.
Shrikant Latkar, has created an app, Oust, for students to practice the entrance test to professional courses in the state, and assess how they rank against their classmates with his maiden venture.
Latkar completed his schooling from St. Pauls, then did his engineering from Gogte Institute of Technology and then did MBA from Santa Clara University. He has been in the USA now for the last 15 years and previously was the CMO of InMobi.
The OUST App currently on Android (iOS version is expected soon) allows users to compete with peers as well as anonymous users across the globe. Currently there are 75,000 questions from previous papers in physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology for the Karnataka CET.
Speaking to AAB, Latkar said “This app will help and create a healthy competition amongst students and going orward, the app could be used as a certification metric as well, throwing up more questions in areas where a student needs to improve.”
Latkar further said, “It has a unique Proprietary technology for match making and assigning questions based on student level and the system is Completely cloud based and optimized for a variety of mobile networks.
The Company is self funded and currently is a team of 6 working from San Francisco Bay Area.
Latkar told AAB, “With 200 active users and 2 renowned Schools in the US we have more than 300 active users and 3 renowned schools in India using this app.

While this is a great step towards increasing students competitiveness, but unfortunately it is not available in Kuwait. Play store doesn’t show this app at all and when tried to access through the browser, it indicates as not available in your country. But many Kannadigas are working in the Gulf and their children will obviously return to Karnataka after 12th std to take up the entrance exams. Under these circumstance, it would help the students outside immensely rather than within India. Students abroad are deprived of formal and quality entrance coaching unlike those within the country. Hence, I request Mr. Shrikant to unblock the app completely, so that students from all over the world can access the app and derive its benefits. Regards.
