I was born, brought up, educated and used to work at Belgaum. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to shift to Pune. But for me, Belgaum will always be home.
Recently, I was listening to the late Mr. P.L. Deshpande’s “Rao Saheb”. I have been to the Ritz talkies several times in my life; I have spent a lot of time in that “little room by its side” with my Dad who was Mr. Kapadia’s friend (during those days, everyone in Belgaum was everyone’s friend) and I have been to the Arts Circle several times where my wife has won a couple of awards.
I am very curious about Mr. Krishnarao Harihar. I feel that I have met him sometime in the past when a firm called BEMCO used to be beside the Globe talkies. I would be obliged if some body enlightens me about him. I wanted to join the Arts Circle and be a member; unfortunately, after having been away from my home for over 15 years, I do not know whom I should approach as “reference”.
It is a shame that no one in Belgaum talks about the rich history of Belgaum after Inida’s independence to the late seventies. That is to be expected, I suppose. Whassup, Facebook, Twitter etc have managed to isolate face-to-face meetings and friendship!
