Hubli airport will be upgraded to international airport and when done will be the third in the state after Bangalore and Mangalore.
650 acres of land acquisition is under process and 245 crores have been already released for acquisition.
The Belgaum airport extension of runway is still not started even tough the process was begun way before the work on Hubli airport begun.
Once the Hubli international airport becomes operational the importance of Belgaum airport will be zero and there could be a chance of flights being dis continued as all importance will be given to Hubli.
That was expected and bound to happen… However Belgaum airport can be promoted as an Airforce base !
I remember the time more than 25 years ago, my uncle coming in from overseas always flew in by VAYUDOOT to Belgaum and then get to hubli by Car. As a Child, I teased him then that Belgaum is better than Hubli and one of reason was it had a airport. Times have changed. THANKS TO OUR POLITICIANS AND THE VERY GOOD BJP GOVERNMENT that gave us only KANNADA SAMMELAN & THE SUWARNA SOUDHA, while taking the infrastrusture to their beloved cities. CHeck out how much Shimoga has improved… the CM's native place.
Hi All
As this was expected because their is always third person get benefited when two are fighting
(Kannada and Marathi). All politicians take such opportunities to their own local places
pointing differences between Kannada and Marathi. Only one solution is we must show
unity and fight until we met our goals. As we know our elected MLA MP and MLC
are not proactive for any improvements in the region.
whats next the vidhan soudha will be shifted to hubli??? , fight more for kanada & marathi ans we will see more improvements in other places like this.
ya you have guessed right . . Bcoz already mini vidhana soudha is constructed in hubli . And now the time to shift VIDHANA SOUDHA . .Okay na
Hubli is a big village and neither has the class or crowd like belgaum, The Politiicians in belgaum are busy building their institutions and pension fund and are least interested in the city. Please see the highway which passes through belgaum it is not even 20 ft one side , forget the runway or airport first let us get our roads right. Many roads are not widened since there are may politicians properties . We nedd few good road first within city .
If potential is there then both would be Intl Airport one day. One should not compare and bring Marathi Kannada into this. The fact is business is more in Hubli hence flights are more and chances of it becoming Intl Airport is more.
Belgaonkars,
Please understand that Hubli has much much more business compared to Belgaum. It is well connected to other cities and towns of North Karnataka by road and rail.
Thats the reason why it is being upgraded to International Airport. It will be helpful to people of Belgaum also. So please welcome this development.
dont tell nonsense things.By statistics u can get the details of business development in belgaum compare to hubli. will u explain what helpful to belgaum people.nothing. u never justify these things.
I stay in Pune and use Mumbai airport to fly. Earlier it was not possible to use Mumbai airport because it would take 5-6 hours to reach Mumbai.. Now I am in Mumbai airport in 2.5 hours from Pune.
Similarly you can reach Hubli airport from Belgaum in 1.5 hours. I spent 2 to 2.5 hours to reach Bangalore airport from city. So 1.5 hours is not a bad deal.
We should welcome new development which happen in our region.
LOL, Hubli is only known for duplicating business or fake liqour business, all other good business comes from other districts and towns, even Hubli falls under Dharwad district and Dharwad falls under BELGAUM Division 🙂 Even water what it would get from now on would be from Belgaum district !!! 🙂
Robbie, i appreciate your foolishness thinking, do u mean that all fake business is done only in Hubli ?, i can provide you a hell lot of Fake business carried over in belgaum, just be aware that, HUBLI covers an area of 191 KMS where begaum covers only 95 KMS. where is 191 and 95 hah ???, dont concentrate on hell Districts buddy, The city makes a difference and that can be only HUBLI. Due to many disputes of maharashtra on bgm, bgm city is lagging back heavily. But, Hubli has political forces, hence it is getting developed, and thats why it is known as The Second largest, the next IT destination, the Second largest south-western connection hub, the Biggest commercial and the CHOTA MUMBAI. It has seen many developments and infrastructures and continues to Develop enormously because it is UNIQUE in its state and it doesn’t know to sit like Emptied… just like BELGAUM… LOL 😀 .. LOL :D.. So, wake up kid..
Duplicate business? Does Abdul Karim Telgi ring a bell?
He was from Belgaum 🙂 🙂 🙂
"Once the Hubli international airport becomes operational the importance of Belgaum airport will be zero" – This is personal option of the editor we need not get carried away by this or provoked. As said above by the other people we need not compare everything and understand the reason lying below it. I am sure people surrounding Hubli-Dharwad-Belgaum all will get benefited by this. Atleast now the govt has started thinking beyond Bengaluru. We need to see what we need in Belgaum.
The distance between Belgaum and Hubli by road is One and Half hour, and if you see in Bangalore it takes more than 2 hours(even without traffic) to reach Bangalore International Airport from some parts of Bangalore even though the Airport is in "Bangalore". So we should be happy with what we are getting and at the same time also strive for development of Belgaum.
Still I have dout on the airport, because our courpte politian will take this money ………………………..
will explain me what belgaum getting?
ya manju you are right ,
Hi All,
It means even though Belgaum deserved lot but not getting anything!!!!!
When second highest populated city, second highest revenue generator, highest in food grain production, second highest vehicles on road, Second highest engineering and medical skills after Bangalore. Now it’s second capital of the state of Karnataka.
Whenever some opportunities come towards Belgaum it is always taken away from it like when two years back up gradation of the Belgaum airport is started but not done yet.
When foreign universities approached Govt open their university here but not allowed.
When Mahindra tractor, Tata_nano, MPHASIS interested in Belgaum but happened something else only. When Belgaum having more then five lack population then why not Belgaum is not selected for JnNURM project? While in Hubli already running JnNURM buses in their city. Is our Govt making us fool!!! Telling that it is providing second capital status to Belgaum?
hi anita . You are right but but the performance of hubli is higher than belgam . . . And before 30years ago hubli is also named as mini mumbai bcoz of succesfull business in hubli . . . And you are saying the population of belgam alva . See in gulbarga nearly 1.5 laks ppl are leaving . Only and in shivmoga also many vehicals are running on road . Bcoz of there reasons any can be done capital of karnataka what ? . No chance hubli dharwad is the only city of success . . And already the progress of convertion of hubli airport to hubli international airport is in process . . And the international cricket stadium is already done . In feb k p l matches will be held there ..
Second highest populated city..?? which city are you talking about….. Are you talking about belgaum city or belgaum district…..
hey uday will u tell me what is status of belgaum airport. when they will do expansion of runway any updates?
Nothing really is moving on ground here
Well well.. Relax guyz… Let anything happen, Population will stay in Belgaum only, how much ever let all say… Belgaum is blessed with WATER, CLIMATE and good cosmoplotian people 🙂
So let Hubli be a international airport, all that depends is how much success it achieves. To add, I did see the Hubli airport, It has no greenary around (not even around the city), not a single tree or shade. So guyz Relax, Gem is a gem always and Belgaum would shine and sparkle to its value when the time comes….
Well said Robbie , Hubli is just made of hype , and dont know why susceesive state govt just favoured it for nothing , Belgaums charm will remain and prevail no mater what, Belgaum have much potential to be best in future to come, just if we comapre there are 9 tourist bus comapnies opertaing avrage 3 buses per day to Banglore (total 27 Buses)and 4 to Mumbai (36 Buses), KSRTC operates 7 to 11 buses of various types, much less than HUbli Dharwad togather operate to this destinaiton , no private luxaries operates from Hubli to Hydarbad (execpt KSRTC and APSRTC), Belgaum operates 5 buses all volvo and mulit excel Benz to Hydrabad, 3 direct and 2 From Goa , Belgaum KSRTC operates one Meghtdoot and one Airawat tio Hydrabad .
It is because Hubli is well connected to Bangalore, Hyderabad, & other major cities by Train…. People dont need bus…. They have Hubli Quota for reservation and there is no belgaum Quota yet..
Recenlty flew Belgaum Mumbai flight load factor was 65% on Sunday , on week days it is 82% , you can get PAX load statistics from KF , from Hubli it is thorugh flight (Mumbai Hubli Bangalore) shared load of Mumabi Banglore of 35% so avarge load of 65% on either routs,
The above fatcs are enough to show Belgaum's potential , no matter what the politicians of Karnatak want to favour up Hubli , just waiting to see Goa highway comeup , although Belgaum is the new gateway to Goa and we are using this international airport ,
Even if the Airport at Hubli gets on International standards the logical point is the aerobridge would never be able to connect an ATR aircraft . let the govt waste money on Hubli we Belgaumites must accept and live with our royal leagcy , I endorse Janrdhan's views
Mr Satish, i think you r just living in a small cover of views,, as per standards Statistics done in 2011, more standard living credit goes to Hubli City. I agree that there might be less greenary around city, huge development of Commercial streets, Industries led for extinction of greenes. But, though it is Second fastest growing city in the State. Belgaum point of view, It is the time for Belgaum municipal corp to awake to maintain its city, and try hard to acquire more facilities for belgaum people. I wish all the very best to BMC and belgaumites..:D
Belgaum has got all basic facilitis, and hubli is industrial hub, i want Belgaum to be an educational centre , I hope central govt sactions IIT in belgaum, and in belgaum there are lot of people who are working in Pune mumbai banglore hydrabad, my complent is our state govt is not worried about north karnataka, nowadays karnataka means only banglore ,,,,,,,,,,
Airports and their success is driven by commerce, to a great extent, …..if the assurance ( of making International airport) has come from petty politicians then we need not worry. So let the real reasons prevail…… I am definitely not in hurry to see an international airport next to my home … the reason to come to BGM was " far from maddening crowd" 🙂
Hi Belgaumites,
Once upon a time Karnataka has having only two Airports, and Belgaum was known for Airport in North Karnataka, and now its in 4th position where only single flight flying. Its clearly indicates the development of
Belgaum. Being Second largest exporting district and border of 3 states we should have International Airport. If Airport developed in city its advantage for Kolhapur, Hubli, Panaji and Bagalkot. and Being capable of IT hub Airport should develop in Belgaum. We all need to convince the Aviation minister. else one day all importance will be given to Hubli, Mysore and Belgaum will turn into one small town….
Govt is cheating to belgavi…
as all the facility are going towards Hubli… politian from belgavi desit have to raise hand for belgavi…
The government is definitely not cheating belgavi. The government conducts vialibility studies,Traffic study and then these reports are being analysed by expert committee and then the decision is taken. To be honest Hubli is a very big city coupled with Dharwad. Due to this there are a lot of buisness ,Trade,Industry. The quantum is very much higher than Belgaum. As every one is aware that the development of belgaum is hampered by the Karnataka -maharastra dispute ,which otherwise Belgaum city would be unparalled and would be a leading city in North karnataka region. By analysing in all aspects the thing boils down to the karnataka -maharstra dispute when seen from the development perspective.
Belgaum (MLA MP MINISTER ) politian……… Are sleepin? Are Aaba Thooooo Jagooooooo! Kuch Thoo Karooooo.
uteenge nahi india is democracy country plz dont disturb them let them sleep
I think that when construction of suwarna vikas soudha completes then politician will realize the importance of belgaum airport because they need to travel by car from belgaum to hubli or they need special plain to travel .but it will take some time to complete the work of vikas soudha
Why can't the international Airport be placed between Belgaum & Hubli..? It could be near Kittur.
In this way it would benefit both the cities including Dharwad, and also the surrounding areas.. Any person from these cities will have to travel for around only 45 minutes only in this case. The pros and cons will be evenly distributed. Belgaum as a second largest exporter and the second political capital of the state really deserves a high tech airport.. And also Hubli-Dharwad being the biggest agglomeration after Bangalore need an Airport.. Belgaum & Hubli both have distinct advantages, which needs to be combined together.
So, An International Airport near Kittur would surely be successful and sustainable in all terms.
Once this Airport starts operating, both the present Belgaum & Hubli airports can be closed for commercial operations.
The Airports Authority of India, instead of developing and operating two different airports in a radius of 100km, can better operate a single larger airport at one place in the centre.
Our MLAs and MPs should pls take up this issue to the Govt & AAI.
Ravikiran…….I agree with u Chanammana Kittur is the best place for that
The Karnataks -Maharastra dispute is the Tumor which is arresting the growth of Belgaum. This Tumour should be removed. The other option is create a city called New-Belgaum purported to be in karnataka and develop it.Furthur form a Corporation of New -Belgaum.If this is made the New -Belgaum will develop in the highest gear.
i like ur idea but is it possible from our polititions………
Hi first of all there is small information need to be corrected , Hubli will not be an international airport , it is being uograded to international standards , governmet of Karataka no doubt much biased towards Hubli , and sanctioned 194 cr for only land acquaitons and 40 cr for airport infrastructre, where as the load factor in Hubli is not even equal to Belgaum and had only sanctioned overall 20 cr for Belgaum airport
Business wise next five years Belgaum will hav more leap since there will five internationl consortiums oprtaing at Quest, Zuari plant is on envil , a 6000 cr power plant , dalmia cemnt plant of 750 cr are in making , Hindalco has already gone ahead with massive expansion ,
Belgum Goa High way is on envil so just wait we would never need to use Hubli (so called interational standrds) with only domestic flights as of now being flying.
Let the govt be biased to Hubli but the time would certaily make a diferene
k janardhan i agree with you and let the time decide which is more deserve to be best airport
thanks for the info Janardhan.
As per the info provided by you. You hav mentioned tat the load factor in Belgaum is much higher than Hubli. If tats the case, why were the services to Belgaum were terminated for more than one year.?. And even now, Hubli is connected to Bengaluru & Mumbai, where as Belgaum has just got connected to Mumbai recently.. Why aren't there any flighs to Bengaluru from Belgaum.? Is there any exact data available on this load factors.? can anybody share it pls.?
Well, even if govt. is planning to upgrade Belgaum & Hubli airports to international standards, it should think again.. Even if any of these cities get an international airport in the near future, it may not sustain for long.. So, if there are any plans for an international airport, it has to planned to serve both Belgaum & Hubli. Only then, the airport would sustain economically and would help the development of entire region. And, if the airport is located equidistant from both these cities,it can generate enough load for any operator. Why can't government plan it now itself, instead of developing these two airports in bits & pieces.?
HI Mr Kamble I must reply to you on two facts is I am associated with avation industry and secondly know a lot about both Airport and from Goa and execute projects fot Belgaum
My company installed the new PAPI, ILS cat 1 and new NDB system at Belgaum, Belgaum Airport was not closed for load factor ( it was due to Political pressure, to accomodate landing slot for Hubli at Mumbai) Karnataka politicians want to disourage Mumabi business influence in Belgaum.
Hubli Airport get share load factor of Mumabi Bangalore (60-40) sector it is not a direct but through flight. offlate many of office from Belgaum were moved to Dharwad mainly state government ones..so somehware Hubli Banglore sector is sustained so far. Earnings from Belgaum is far more from just landing charges , which as of now exempted for Hubli AP from State govt , the Airport and Navy uses paid NDB serviecs at Belgaumand frequent landings apart from commercial and chartered aircraft from NAL another fact is ATF station is based in Belgaum, My emphasis is on Hubli is geting undue favour on , for load DGCA can provide you eloborated info called PAX load ( Passnager load schedule) use RTI
i am totally agree with you and thanks for information.one more thing anything u have updates about belgaum airport developments.
airport getting close why dreaming bout upgrade of belgaum . HUBLI is CHOTA MUMBAi
Boss Hubli is more commercial than Belgaum that is the fact, digest it well.Hubli is well ahead of belgaum in all aspects, there is no comparison. It is wise for us not to get into such silly city v/s city comparisons. It is idiotic on the part of people to make an issue of this news.
Hubli lover,, i agree with you,, Since Hubli City is ahead of belgaum,, there are no aspects to compare The HUBLI city with Belgaum. Hubli city is the Second largest and second capital city in Karnataka and also the Commercial Capital too. Hubli’s Railway station is the second largest in state. The City covers total area of 191 KMS,, but belgaum covers just the area of 95 KMS. There will be 6 ways connection b/w Hubli and Dharwad and once the monorail project completes b/w Hubli and Dharwad,, there will be not more left to be an High-tech and Metropolitan City. Cheers to Hublites and The HUBLI CITY(Chota Mumbai).
Hubli and Dharward have bigger industrail and trading base. Therefore, more opportunities. Belgaum may get political clout but that said, means more , protests and bandhs. On the long run Hubli will grow more securely.
As regards the airport all smaller cities will get connected. International flights go to kochi and Mangalore, both these airfeilds are tricky during monsoon. The airport by itself is one parameter. Load factor, being part of profitable route, competition on the sector are many consideration. Belagaum does not have that advantage yet.
Hubli is already on the air map.
i don no y this editor always condems development in H-D…infact one should be happy that somehow
we NK ppl managed to get some infrastructure at our end..manjunath has rightly said that in banglore
even though airport is in banglore..it takes more than two hours..come on guys belgaum has got Quest SEZ…
infact the CEO is frm Hubli n he asked for it in hubli but the govt sanctioned land in belgaum..so its should
not be taken in a negative way..we need to develop the entire strech of H-D-B…these cities hav the potential…selfishness will not help…
good buddy iam from hubli weshould think about NK development as HDB. Hubli the chota mumbai
leave bangalore.. hubli will take years jus to touch mangalore n mysore.. mangalore s also knwn as mini mumbai. Hubli s still far away
hi all my friends . . Hey see here if hubli gets an international airport all M N C ‘s come one by one and situate in hubli . And may be i think this is the turning point for development of both ie hubli-dharwad and belgam districts . . Bcoz if m n c’s come ones they will enlarge till belgam city . . And we both gets benefited . And there is a chance for international cricket matches to be held in hubli. .. So this is turning point we should utilize this apportunity . . . And take a look of future development . .
Hubli is second largest n in hubli 2 malls are constructing with ecsaltors inox n PVR cinemas not like belgaums mall n in hubli there r apartments of 20 floors in belgaum i thint there will be 5floors.
ya vishal . Hubli is the only city to become capital of karnataka after bengalore
Be aware of Mangalore also we have 33floors
Not only Hubli also Dharwad
@ Vishal: True Words buddy,, Hubli City always Rocks in whole Karnataka
WE LIVE IN HARMONY BELGAUM IS COOOOOOLLLL………… PLACE,,,,,,,, AFTERALL WE ARE NORTH KARNATAKA PEOPLES WE SHOULD STAND TOGETHERE
You are right chandan. Dear all please stop these arguments. we should stand together to develop north karnataka. whether it is hubli or belgaum doesn’t make any difference. north karnataka rocks…
hay hubli is second bigest city in the state of
karnataka and is a commecal space
I love hibli
hi friends im hubli lover. there are 2 malls are already serving hubli. U mall & Max Mall
There are 3 malls coming up the y are Laxmi mall, Hubli central mall & Urban oasis mall
Please visit skyscrapercity.com
& go to hubli search u will get the latest updates of hubli.
im the member of that site
hi there
you all seems to be a very low iq morons( expect FEw)
first things first… its a media debate long ago weather hubli or belagavi should become like nagpur
(the second capital you low iq morons)
the media debate partly funded by politicians( read congres party) of south karnataka wanted everything for themselves such as in mysore and bangalore regions
today if you remove bangalore and mysore cities out of karnataka the prople are so poor less poor than that of UP little rich to bihar…even though bangalore developed most of the top positions in vidhansoudha , it companies, mechanical oriented industires is held by telugu mostly and tamil people… and they dont want to kannada people to develop… if you dont want to believe me go to whitefield area for that matter any area just see who the rich is… and consistently the money given to bangalore in the name of infrastructure… so today if you go to pune or mumbai most low grade labourers speak kannad they are migrated from karnataka to here ( no opportunities for these people in there own place) and more than that people of bangalore land owners mostly telugu buy new mercs and bmw at the cost of poor kannadigas
Dear friends,
Why do you all are fighting hubli and belagavi? Hubli, Belagavi, dharwad,Bijapur, gulbarga, bellary etc north karnatakan cities have been neglected by state govt till now. Belagavi is getting a some sort of position in karnataka map because of MES and its illicit behaviours. Hubli had been recognized as main city of north karnataka because it is at centre to reach out any north karnataka city.Hubli is made as main city of this region because it was quite developed rather than other cities of north karnataka otherwise all the govts till now made a huge misgovernance in north karnataka. tat is the reason we r fighting now like as crows got small bread piece. Hubli is the place which is accessible to all north karnataka cities and belgavi is accessible to other states viz. goa maharashtra. so development of both the cities is very much need.
Dear Anand,
You are perfectly right. Both of the cities should develop in coming days.
These politicians why they are concentrating only Banaglore & Mysore don`t know.
These politicians should distribute industries through out the karnataka like how maharashtra developed Pune, Mumbai, Nashik & Khanapur.
Hubli is always been commercial hub from long years. there is no doubt about it. recent developments in the city for examples like BRTS project, 24×7 water supply, roads, drainage, lakes, cricket grounds, malls, multiplex and last but not the least even logistics have made Hubli beyond to the comparison with Belagavi. Forget about airport in Belagavi even State Bus stand looks in pathetic condition.on other hand hubli has reasonably good Bus stands, new railway stations and waiting for new airports. so these are all positive developments.
belgaum have largest foundry cluster in Karnataka.when u combine hubli and dharwad they will not give income like belgaum. I have not seen a richest and cleanest theatre like belagavi in whole karnataka .the belgaum is coolest city in karnataka.
for all politicians only mysore and banglore is karnataka,,,, its a to ask for north karnataka with belgaum as capital.they are digging double railway track between mysore and bang… but there s no direct track between belgaum and hubli…..
don’t fi8 guys we are north kannadiga’s
As Belgaum is growing than belgaum airport should also become an international airport,as many foreigners come to visit belgaum city.Belgaum city is the coolest city….
Belgaum is the second capital of karnataka, then why it is lagging behind,we should upgrade the belgaum city and belgaum airport…
Re-submitted with minor amendments…
Dear All,
First-off, I would love to be able to fly from London Heathrow to Hubli on direct flights. It has been more than a decade that I have been travelling to Hubli only after taking flights either to Mumbai or Bangalore wasting an extra day in the journey. This would be a dream come true, even if it can happen in 5 or 10 years from now!!
A decision on such a large project should also be coupled with industrial, educational and economic growth projects, programmes and investments. With a large number of educational institutions in Hubli & Dharwad and a large number of highly qualified people coming from these cities every year, there should be lot more opportunities for employment and economic growth in the region. So, a comprehensive programme for the region led by local industrialists and eminent leaders would significantly help the aspiring young and motivated people to progress much faster.
Several of my own friends and colleagues from Hubli/ Dharwad having completed their education are currently living in UK, USA, Australia and many other countries. It is obvious that they keep visiting Hubli/Dharwad in view of visiting their relatives and to manage their property / Business. They would also serve as a conduit for bringing wealth and knowledge to help the people, industries and instituitions in the region. So, I’m sure, they will all cheer-up with the news of the proposal for an International Airport in Hubli.
Cheers,
Nagraj
hi,belgaum is the best city in south we dont need anyone to tell if after banglore belgaum is the second city………………………..
we belgaumities also need justice why cant we get justice …… why only hubli is developing………………………….
WE NEED JUSTICE
Hello

Belagum yake yellaru careless madtidira anth gotta agatill so yellaru onda tilako beku belagavi nagar bahal sundarawagidi illi business madavarigy hagu industry hakowarigy tumbane avakash galivey karan belgavi nearest maharastra, gov 2rd states eve olly business madabhuda mathe population kuda jasti idy so my humble request for karnatak govt. To plz prefence to bgm
HUBLI is CHOTA MUMBAi…..
I dont think hubli is second largest city of karnataka may be including dharwad is bigger, area wise mysore is bigger and when it comes to huge malls, highrise buildings(mangalore already have 38 storeyed building) showrooms(cars, clothings) and pubs and discotheques mangalore always second after bangalore.
And hubli recently got airport and manglore got airport in 1949 and international since 2008 and it is a major port city of India.
Now tell me is hubli second largest city karnataka?
hubli dharwad is 210 sq kilometer Mysore is 98 km, form 1956 karnataka govt spand lakhs of Cr to Mysore
for north u think

Mysuru is second largest city in karnataka.Hubli-dharwad is 2 separate cities.mysore’s tallest building is 16 floors.we have infosys, wipro,L & T,beml
Mangalore is in race bro… there are 2 bulidings under constructuion and these are the tallest building in south india having 57 floors
Belgaum has service centre for Rolls Royce aircraft engines; Belgaum has suvarna soudha; it has one of the best military training centres; it has highest foundries; it has VTU; it has a hospital as big as the KLES; it has complete 6 lane highways; it has awesome hotels; including the very famous niyaaz; it has largest number of sugar factories in its vicinity; u might have malls; but we have better shopping choices here in Belgaum; u might have buildings with more floors, we have less floors with so much more luxury…
I<3Belgaum
The reasons aren't enough for us to get an international airport??
see guys stop fighting … this all thing has to found out clearly we have to empower belgaum other wise it would be just like solapur its not that I'm blaming Maharashtra people but taking consideration of Bangalore and south Karnataka is very much developed it has to be improved the same in Hyderabad Karnataka so getting international airport in belgaum would be cyber better thing because it can empower belgaum I say this as the resident of hubli we think of the state and covinient for people not of prestige of Hubli or something
Will Hubli really get the International Airport, Is Huge question Mark, When we don’t have enough flights flying to neighboring States, then imagining the International Planes landing here is just a dream. I am in Hubli since from 27 years and heard about it much and till now i never seen the frequent flights. Planes starting flying for few months and suddenly one fine day they disappear. Hope our politicians first give us the basic infrastructure, Like proper road,Water and Electricity. In the name of BRTS you all might have seen the fate of hubli roads now. God Knows when they finish it.
Hope they are not misleading us in the name of International Airport.
lol, its really incredible India.. I never seen such kinda people fighting for there respective cities like Blgm n H-D..haha how foolish u all r, I mean u fighting like child’s both the cities r just third class n low rated cities, n still finding the better one among urselfes.H-D peoples u think urself suferior, oh come one if so, then why u can’t beat other cities like Mangalore n Mysore in Karnataka in all aspects of development, leave Bangalore u can’t beat, sorry can’t even get in to race with it, its just far ahead..just think of Mangalore n Mysore even these two cities r like blgm n HD in area n population but development wise far ahead of u bot.both these cities r listed among top ten clean cities in India with Mysore as no 1 clean city..but why not bgm n HD, think n digest it well..and when it comes to Karnataka state only 3 cities r recognised in India of course 1st will b Bangalore, Mysore n Mangalore respectively, but not blgm n HD why..? the people outside our not even heard of these 2cities, these 2 cities never existed for them… if belgaum is well known in India then it’s only bcz of controversy’s regarding States disputes not bcz of developments. n HD peoples digest one think ur airport is jzt being getting upgraded to international, its never gonna get international airport till u stop ur foolish acts like comparing btwn these 2 undeveloped cities..fighting here in websites not gonna gain anything guys, get into streets n fight against the Karnataka govt. at least u may get water from goa(kalasa banduri) time to change urself guys. findiing the best from two worst not gonna make u superior, protest altogether for north Karnataka.. even I’m from gokak, blgm district, even I could have taken blgm side n posted some comments to convince HD peoples that blgm is better but why to do so when both r ignored by developments itself…think friends change urself first to change north Karnataka….
Agree with you bro….
Comment:And U My Boy…Leave Mysore Its Good City…But Ur Mangalore Sucks Really Bad..There muslim Majority Are Not Treated Properly Lyf For Muslims In M’lore is Really Bad…I being Hindu Telling to U..These Belgavi’s Are Already Jelous Of Hubli And I dont think U wanna Join Dem Representing Mangalore
Mr Naveen,

Great Poet like Mr.D.R.Bendre..
Just tell me one thing if you have just a clean city is that all you need..
you need many other things to call a city as city..
change your thoughts.. as you belong to Gokak.. look deep inside Belguam and HD.
you will realise what is Belguam and what is HD..
I am proud to be a citizen of HD.
Ya Mr mahantesh I agree about what u shared about bgm n HD but it’s true that we should digest well that we r neglected by our govt. One thing I’m not acting childish or am not against these 2 cities, and even im too proud of being from bgm district. Better to develop 8 additional Airports (including 2 International)
1) International airport between Belagavi & Dharwad. [Present Hubli Airport and Belagavi Airport to be retained]
2) between Gulbarga (After Kamalapur) and Bidar (Before Humnabad)
5) Davanagere-Harihar (Near Bathi)
6) Shimoga – Bhadravathi (after Sogane, the current location is ideal)
7) International Airport Mysore (Mandakalli Extension)
8) Ballari (Hosapete Road)

Belgaum cannot be compared with Hubbali. it is comparing like India with China.
Hubbali is far ahead of Belgaum, no doubt about it. Even though I am from bgm. considering the facility (water sanitation, non-corrupt) it is preferred to get relocated at Hubbali for having peaceful life.
BELGAUM HAS 9D Cinema theatre First time in india at Belagaum’s Skyzone, Belgaum has tallest building in north karnataka, it has finest military in india, it has Air force, it has glamour, it has three university’s (VTU,RCU,KLE), it has biggest hospital in north Karnataka,it is the secound capital city of karnataka, belgaum has two cities border Goa and Maharashtra, It has Vidhan Sabha as big as bengalore has, belgaum is the largest District in Karnataka, there is no toll charges in Goa to belgaum KA 22 vehicles, modi Visited 4 times to belgaum, it has largest Small scale Industry’s in india, we has Aequs aerospace global at Belgaum, now tell me where does hubli stands here.
hats off
But why Marathi Boards in karnataka state city. Do you know how old is kannada language. And also kindly tell me is there any district in Goa and Maharastra having kannada boards.
You can go to Miraj, Sangli, Kolhapur, Jatt and many more have kannada boards bro.
Hubli has many malls.. Many multiplexes.. Infosys is coming up soon.. It got flyovers.. Brts.. Volvo city buses… 18 lakh population (3 times more dan belgaum)
Hubli/Dharwad both population is ₹-900000.(2011)
1800000 is.(wrong)
Belagavi population is ₹600000.(2011)
I dint see any flyovers in Hubli.
??????????
Belgavi is bigger than Hubli. Dharwad-Hubli is big, but if you compare with belgavi city and Hubli city Belgavi is big and more population and more commercial. I want remind you Belgavi is selected for smart city under, under 20 list. 1 Mysore, 2 shimoga, 3 Belgavi still not yet selected Hubli.

Hai Mr nishith why we both belgaum and hubli people fight and sharing critics on this issue I wish both airport must grow , as belgaum concerned it has more GDP on per capita higher than hubli
I want share some facts
Hubli is city and dharwad is district
Belgaum is city and district as well
Hubli has more connectivity than any other city any time any were you can reach
Really belgaum is livable city no doubt
Hubli in1990 it’s more bigger than nasik equal to coimbatore Unfortunately curfew and roits made hubli shut on every 15,days until 2004 when police commissioner gagandeep arrived
I wish both city with co operation with each other develop like vadodara and rajkot become model
For others once upon mangalore witnessed critics from kerala mangalore administration ignored
go ahead silently which was smaller than belagaum finally let join our hands together and grow together
SAVE IXG
We are residents of Hubli for generations and I am proud to say that I’m live in hubli
We have the best schools, colleges, universities ,and other educational institutions.
Hubli has residents who lead simple lives but are highly qualified and very wealthy.
People from Gadag, Ranibenur ,Haveri Goa and so many other people came to hubli to complete their education .
Why then should not a great city like hubli have an international airport ? after all it caters to the needs of its neighboring districts and cities .
What about Hubli Roads Bro?
Love Hubli

Belgaum is an important source of vegetables, fruits, meat, poultry, fish, mining production, and wood (due to heavy rainfall, rivers and the abundance of water). Trading in North Karnataka is mainly with Goa and Maharashtra along with major cities like Pune and Bangalore. Rich deposits of Bauxite are found in Belagavi district and have led to the creation of the Indian aluminium-producing company Hindalco Industries of the Aditya Birla Group.[20] Uranium deposits have been found at Deshnur, a small village near Bailhongal town.[21] Belgaum is a major producer of milk in the state, 30% of the state’s production, and has the highest number of Sugar factories in Karnataka. It is also home to Ugar Sugar Works in Ugar, Shree Renuka Sugars, and other large-scale sugar factories.
From the early 1970s, Belgaum began developing into an important centre for the manufacture of heavy machine tools, including the manufacture of high-pressure oil hydraulics systems.
Belgaum is also a foundry Hub of Karnataka state, with about 200+ foundries producing automotive and industrial castings of ferrous base and supporting ancillaries like CNC and conventional machine shops which finish the castings that are produced in Belgaum.
