Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna movie ready for the big day

Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna, the mamoth Kannada movie being produced by Belgaumite Anand Appugol under the banner of Sri Sangolli Rayanna Cine Combines is ready to hit the big screens on November 1. The historical film is ready to bring the legendary valour of the freedom fighter and the Kittur dynasty on-screen. The film has been produced with a mega budget of Rs.32 crores.

Nirmal: 11.30,2.45,6,9 p.m.

Chitra: 11.15,2.30,5.30,8.30 p.m.

The movie went on the floor on 19 November at Kittur. Shooting was done in Jaipur with more than thousand artists including horses and elephants. Production team shot for 40 days in desert village called Thula to capture the battle scene wonderfully. Seven cameras including the latest photogenic 500, fitting the small cameras to the horses and heli-cam were pressed in to action to shoot the various action sequences in the movie. The characters were enacted by Dr. Jayapradha (Kittur Rani) and Darshan(Sangolli Rayanna).

It has taken more than 175 days shooting for this whopping budget cinema – the biggest film in the history of Kannada cinema. Challenging Star Darshan Thoogudeep, Jayaprada and Nikita Thukral playing lead roles. This is one of the highest budget film in the Kannada film industry. Jayapradha will play the character of Kittur Chennamma.

The warrior against the British rule in India ‘Sangolli Rayanna’ has attracted the film media and even earlier movies were made on the great man.

In the war field 30 elephants, 100s of horses, 1000s of soldiers plus 320 fighters from Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai have taken part in some of the risky shots. Seven cameras including the latest photogenic 500, fitting the small cameras to the horses and heli-cam were pressed into action. Shooting in Murugod cave was another rich experience. The cave to the road level was used for five days shoot for ‘Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna’

Director Naganna selected the challenging star Darshan for this film to play the warrior role.

In 1967 ‘Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna’ was made by Chitravani banner that was directed by Babu Rao Athani and produced by Ananth Hiregowdar. Abhi Bhattacharya, Kaminidharan, Dada Salvi, Saroj Borkar, Vibhuthe, Renukamma Murugod, Ramgopal were in the cast.

 

About Sangolli Rayanna (B: 15-Aug-1798 – D: 26-Jan-1831) was a prominent freedom fighter from Karnataka. He fought the British till his death. He was the army chief of the Kingdom of Kittur ruled at the time by Rani Chennamma. Rayanna was born in the small village of Sangolli, he belonged to the Kuruba Gowda / Dhangar caste and hence a warrior. The warrior was captured by treachery and hanged in Nandagad in Khanapur Taluka (37 kms from Belgaum). At the time of being hanged he said “My last wish is to be born again in the country to fight against the British and drive them away from our sacred soil”.

Keshava Aditya has penned the story, lyrics and dialogues for this film. Yashovardhan is the music director. Darshan, Jayaprada as Kittur Rani Chennamma, Srinivasamurthy, Nikitha, Umasri, CR Simha, Ramesh Bhat, Dharma, Saurav, Brahmavar, Karibasavaiah, Aravind, Biradar and others are in the cast of this much expected historical film ‘Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna’.
