22 people were killed early Saturday when a mini-truck in which they were traveling toppled on the Bagalkot Belgaum highway near Halki cross 30 Kms from Belgaum city. Also more than 15 were injured.
Accident occurred at 5.30 AM this morning when the truck overturned as the driver lost control. The victims include nine women and five children.
About 35+ people travelling on the truck were labourers going to Sawantwadi from Gulburga. The driver was a bit drowsy and also fast when the vehicle hit the kerb.
An exgratia of Rs.1 Lakh was announced for the kins of the dead by Sygar minister Prakash Hukkeri.
