A girl aged 3 years and 7 months was allegedly raped by a boy aged 20 in the Camp area in Belagavi.
The man had allegedly sexually assaulted the minor victim around a week ago.
The victim was being treated at a private hospital and then was shifted to civil when the incident came to light.
A case has been registered against two persons, including a minor, at the city’s camp police station on Tuesday on charges of raping the minor.
A case has been registered against Mumbai-based Roshan David (20) who had moved into a rented house a few days ago.
The 20 year accused has been booked under different sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The incident has sparked outrage in the city. The National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW), on Wednesday morning, called on the Deputy Commissioner of Police to get early justice to the victim in the case.
The delegation said, such incidents should not be repeated and the accused should be given severe punishment.
Many other organizations also have come up in protest. The Bapat Galli traders shut their shops for an hour today and protested seeking justice for the victim.
